Pare, Martin Repeat at NEPGA Match Play Championship

The win is No. 6 for the dynamic duo

Jeff Martin of Norton CC and Ledgemont CC’s Troy Pare took home the Jeff Martinfirst big tournament of the 2017 season – the Pro-Pro Match Play Championship at LeBaron Hills Country Club in Lakeville, Mass.

It marks the second consecutive year, and sixth time, they’ve won the tournament. In fact the twosome has never finished below T5.

Getting number six wasn’t easy, however.

Martin and Pare first faced off against Matt Zdon and John Fields in the semis and made the turn all square. But the dynamic duo poured it on down the stretch, finally winning 3&2.

In the final match, Shawn Warren and Chad Spencer gave the six-time champs all they could handle, and after all four players missed match-clinching putts on 18, the match went into OT.

After a push on the first playoff hole, Pare took over and hit three perfect shots, highlighted by a 15-foot birdie putt for the win.

Here’s a close up look of the Pro-Pro Match Play Championship trophy (which may be renamed the Martin-Pare Trophy someday).
