SHELBURNE, Vermont – John Goodchild is well-known in the Vermont golf community – a community which he’s been a part of for nearly twenty years, has been named Executive Director of the Vermont Golf Association.
Goodchild moved from his native Connecticut to Vermont and his career dates back to Kwiniaska Golf Club (Shelburne, VT) where he spent three years as the Assistant Golf Professional before moving onto Williston Golf Club (Williston, VT) as the Assistant Golf Professional. After a decade of experience at Williston, Goodchild moved on up to Head Professional at Barre Country Club (Barre, VT).
“I’m very fortunate to have been afforded sound mentorship over the years, preparing me for this opportunity to lead the VGA into the future” said Goodchild, in a press release.
Goodchild resides in South Burlington with his wife and 3 year old son, and has been a Class A Member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America since 2013. He has roots woven in all corners of the Vermont golf network, and fits the exact mold of what the VGA is looking for.
“John comes to the Vermont Golf association highly recommended by his peers and past employers. He knows all VGA Member Clubs, their Professionals, and has great knowledge of our industry, which will greatly benefit us [VGA] immediately, but even more so for years to come. We are very excited to have John leading our organization” said Gene MacCallum, President of Vermont Golf Association.
“I look forward to establishing many lasting relationships as Executive Director. Furthering growth of the VGA and game of golf in Vermont, as well as New England, is a never-ending goal, but one that I welcome; it’s very important to me” says Goodchild.
“This is an exciting time within the VGA. I look forward to working with all [VGA] Member Clubs and Players to continue the great momentum golf has in Vermont” continues Goodchild.
