Three-time major champion, Nick Price, was the recipient of this year’s Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf at the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund’s 67th Annual Banquet in Boston.
Price, a 2003 inductee into the Golf Hall of Fame, was the guest speaker at the event, which is billed as golf’s largest annual dinner in the U.S
“We were thrilled to have Nick Price as our 2017 honoree and also to have Dave Marr III again so ably serve as our Master of Ceremonies. Nick has an amazing record and is certainly one of the top players of the past 25 years. He has also become highly respected with his work with the Presidents Cup and is also known as one of the nicest people in the game,” said Greg Gailius, Ouimet Fund President.
During a three-year span, from 1992 through 1994, the South African Price won three major championships (’92, ’94 PGA Championships and ’94 British Open), and held top spot the world rankings for 48 consecutive weeks.
The Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf became part of the Ouimet Annual Banquet when the late Arnold Palmer was honored in 1997.
Subsequent honorees have included Gene Sarazen, Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange, Ken Venturi & Eddie Lowery, Former President George H.W. Bush, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Nancy Lopez, Greg Norman, Peter Jacobsen, Jack & Barbara Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Annika Sorenstam, Mark O’Meara, Mr. Ouimet himself in 2013, the Centennial of his historic U.S. Open victory, Brad Faxon, Tom Lehman and now Mr. Price.
